The beaches on the west coast
Adults and children alike cannot fail to be impressed by the beautiful long, broad, white sandy beaches lined by the large dunes that are found on the west coast near Løkken, Lønstrup, Hirtshals, Tversted or Skagen.
Here there are both child-friendly beaches with areas in which cars are prohibited, and beaches that have room for both games and cars.
The North Sea is always worth experiencing, whatever the season, weather or wind.
The beaches on the east coast
The beaches at Skagen, Frederikshavn and Sæby face out onto Kattegat, where the waves are only rarely very powerful and where the relatively shallow water with a sandy seabed warms up quickly. The child-friendly, broad and car-free beaches are often situated sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds by lovely dunes. On the east coast shells tend to be washed up onto the beach, so there are good chances of finding amber.
The white sand and the wide open spaces offer hours of fun and games for the whole family.
On the beaches at Løkken, Tornby, Tversted and on the palm-lined beach in Frederikshavn there are manned lifeguard stations during the bathing season.
