Dramatic ship wrecks

The coastline that borders the Top of Denmark has always attracted a large number of seafarers. Not all voyages or sailing trips resched their planned destination, however; evidence of this can be seen today by the numerous shipwrecks lying on the seabed along the coast. Ships getting stranded and then being wrecked were at one time an almost daily occurrence. For the local population these wrecks represented an extra income. Along the treeless coasts, the salvaging of the remains of shipwrecks acted as a useful supplement to a modest income.
