Go on the trip, and experience how nature displays its force and continuously changes the shape of the coastline.
In the late 1940s, an enterprising businessman, inspired by the many trips where loose sand was fetched from Grenen for new constructions in the city, got the idea to transport people out to experience where Denmark ends.
The story actually tells that while driving to Grenen, many visitors asked for a lift with the vehicles used to pick up the sand. It got a bright head thinking: "Why not make this a business where you can earn a dime".
It was not far from thought to action, and the first primitive vehicles, with benches borrowed from the church house, were deployed. Today's trips take place with a modern tractor and fixed seats in the carriage.
The sandworm has no fixed timetable, but departs regularly from Grenen's car park during the period at 10.00-16.00 (approx.).
Please note, that it is not possible to pay by card for the trip, so please bring cash. It is also possible to buy a ticket from the vending machine mounted on the kiosk at Grenen.
You can also rent a carriage for special events such as weddings or birthdays.
